BMW Multi Information Display MID Repair, Restoration Service E38

This restoration/repair service primarily involves replacing the LCD ribbon cable, which connects the PCB to the LCD. Over time, this weak point can cause missing or faded pixels on the information display. I prefer to use the original LCDs, as they provide the best performance. However, in some cases the LCD must be replaced if it is delaminating or the contact pads are deteriorating.

 Repairs include:

• New Ribbon Cable
• Repairing the front button PCB if buttons don't respond 
• Replacing the 12 backlight min bulbs if 1994-2000 MID 
• Servicing the Volume Adjuster if needed
• Detailing and cleaning of face, buttons.

Special Considerations

• Previously opened or repaired MIDs may incur additional charges if mailed in with damaged or missing parts. The most common ones are warped aluminum brackets or missing pink pressure strips. These components are essential for a long-lasting repair and can be difficult to obtain.
• Replacement LCD's are available when necessary for $50. 
• Rubber Volume Knobs are extra when available.
